NEW ORLEANS — The Alderson Broaddus men's cross country team tied for the highest team grade point average for the 2017 season in NCAA Division II.
"This is the most important objective that I always have for my team," said head coach Jesse Weiner. "Last year we were the number one team in the G-MAC and now we were tied for first in NCAA DII. That is quite an accomplishment."
Announced by the US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), the Battler men posted a 3.77 overall GPA which tied Azusa Pacific for the top spot in Division II.
On the men's side, 119 schools received honors while 176 women's teams had All-Academic honors. The AB women finished with a 3.06 overall GPA last fall and were recognized as well.
"I am so proud of the men on the cross country team," Weiner said. "We had four men with a 4.0 GPA. This is something so incredible to accomplish not only as a student, but even more as a student-athlete."
