Dennis Creehan has been invited to coach in The Spring League which will take place from March 28th through April 15th in Austin, Texas.
Last season, Creehan coached in The Spring League which took place at the Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. This year, it is on the move to Austin, Texas next month at the Circuit of Americas.
Per the official website, The Spring League is a developmental league & scouting event for professional football talent. The Spring League takes place each year during the months of March and April and additionally has a one-week showcase in July.
This season, four teams will compete in the league and each will play two games a piece on April 7th and the 14th. This year, the games will be televised on the Turners Sports video streaming service. The teams will play with the current set of NFL rules.
On February 19th, it was announced that former Texas A&M stand out quarterback Johnny Manziel would participate in this year's Spring League to highlight the list of players. Manziel was the winner of the 2012 Heisman Trophy and was drafted 22nd overall in the 2014 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns.
For the Browns, Manziel played in 15 games during the 2014 and 2015 seasons while making eight starts. He passed for 1,675 yards and seven touchdowns in those two seasons. Manziel missed the rest of the 2015 season following an injury and was then released by the Browns on March 11th, 2016.
Other notable players expected to participate in The Spring League include former New York Jets wide receiver Stephen Hill, former Miami University and Cleveland Browns tight end Kellen Winslow Jr. and former Tennessee Titans running back David Cobb.
